More 'King of the Railway' Books Revealed!

Whilst browsing through Amazon, some more titles from the 'King of the Railway' special have come to light, with a few more better quality pictures of one of the main characters from the new special.

It looks to be very promising, the yellow engine pictured here in these two covers, resembling the later 'Rocket' of 1830 designed by George Stephenson, which is in a way, quite interesting to see that the series producers are starting to use more UK based designs than USA prototypes.

Since Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends has been a UK product since 1945 when the books were first published, and since the series will now have a new writer for the upcoming seventeenth series, here's hoping that a few of the older series characters, will hopefully make a come back!

Blog Homepage re-designed

We've given the home-page of our blog a better design, now included with links to our Facebook page and group for those wishing to become part of our growing Thomas modellers community. As well as a link to our official twitter page, so you can follow us there to catch up with the latest news from our community.

Slowly the rest of the blog is coming together and all the pages are being given new page banners and content, we hope you will continue to support the community, and enjoy the latest new works from our members!

As we draw closer to December, we will be adding some festive season banners, so be sure to watch out for those.

Robot Chicken - Blow Some Steam!

If you are fans of Thomas the Tank Engine, then you will love this epic and hilarious robot chicken parody created by comedy maestro and move actor, Seth Green.

Stop motion has always been a great form of animation, and those who love modelling Thomas, will enjoy this video for it's brilliant use of Bachmann Thomas models. Kudos to Seth Green, keep on entertaining! :)

Bachmann Duck - image here!

Bachmann's brand new pre-production model of Duck, shows just how much he is definitely worth waiting for when he arrives in 2013!

Truly they have once again outdone themselves with this beautiful model, another perfect model to add to your growing collections very very soon.

With thanks to Owen Hayward for the heads up and link.

Updated Dennis!

With help from viewers and friends, certain bits of Dennis have been updated, the jackshaft which seemed to bump the rails as he moved along, has now been made smaller and a pair of new coupling rods made from a Hornby 0-4-0 locomotive which extended from the center drive wheel to the jackshaft crank, have been fitted and the pins glued in place as they kept falling off.

I personally think he looks a lot more like his tv series model now that he has been given extra attention, and those wondering if he will be used in any upcoming episodes, the answer is yes, he will be.

King of the Railway - Next Feature-Length Special!

The next direct-to-DVD and blue-ray special confirmed for 2013 is titled 'King of the Railway'.

Though nothing is yet known about this new special, the only clear evidence is a book that will be released in 2013 that tells the story of the new movie. The other fascinating thing about this movie, is the strange locomotive behind Thomas, that seems to be based on and represents Stephenson's Rocket.

One can only assume that this is prior to the release of Season 17, which will have a new series writer and new animation format which has moved to Arc Productions, there is also talk of bringing back several original characters from past series, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Sentinel Diesel 0-6-0 - Won on Ebay

I never thought it would happen, but after looking through Ebay for some new diesels, i came across an obsolete Knightwing 0-6-0 Sentinel Diesel kit, and won it for a lovely £74.00.

So it looks like Den will have a brother that's a class 0-6-0 (even though Den is an 0-4-0), who will be painted in a similar color, bearing the Vicarstown Diesel Works logo on his sides, with a possible Bachmann 08 or 04 shunter chassis.

Railway Stories from Sodor - Episode 7 in the works!

Episode 7 of Railway Stories from Sodor is set to be based on the annual story 'Old Groaner' but with a twist to feature Splatter and Dodge. These two have not been seen since the Magic Railroad movie, and since their models are now 'Arry and Bert in the Television Stories, i hope to give them a little bit of background, and make them useful, instead of silly and unreliable.

The script will be released and sent out to the voice cast, as soon as it's been finalized.

Den Project - Chassis Update!

Den's chassis is almost finished, the last few details are being added before the motion can be painted. Once this is done, the main body can be primed and left to set.

Questions have been asked if i would consider building models of Sidney and Norman to complete the current Diesel clan, and my answer is yes, they will be made once i have sorted out a few other personal projects. At present, Den is one model i would like to get finished off, and then rework the claw on Diesel 10.

Molly however, is expected to be done in early 2013, if not sooner, but again, i will keep you informed of the latest happenings in the Sodor OO Works section of the blog, for those wanting to know what's new.

Dennis the Lazy Diesel - Project Complete!

After months of work, Dennis is finally ready to be a useful engine.

The project has been rather complicated, but, with help from friends, support from other modellers and positive feedback from members of the community, the 11001 'Dennis' project is now done!
The jackshaft proved to be the most complicated, but, it was worth the effort to get him sorted out and made into a fully functional working OO model.

We will post photos of the complete model to the gallery, as soon as we can.

Railway Stories from Sodor - Episode 6, now live!

Episode 6 is now live on our YouTube channel @ MrRailwayStories.

Den making excellent progress in OO!

Den is nearing the completion headline, the body just needs a few tweaks here and there, and the chassis just needs to be wired up to the motor, first glimpse pics are here.

It's looks a tad iffy atm i know, but, with some tender work and attention, he will soon be ready for work on the Sodor Railway.

We are proud to display his latest work, Mountain Engine, a story from the famous Railway Series books by the Rev .W. Awdry, and captured here in marvelous stop-motion animation, it truly deserves a place on the blog, as one of the most entertaining model series videos to date.

If you are a fan of the Railway Series stories, you will want to check out his video, guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of any Thomas fan. :)

Thomas the Privatised Tank Engine - Page Coming Soon!

Recent i have obtained a very funny book that was released in 1994 during the debate over the privatisation of britain's railways. Whilst the book is entertaining, it has also some marvelous ink illustrations by Nick Clark, which could be worth alot of money in years to come.

The World of Thomas Modelling, hopes to have a page up soon, with some samples of the book on display, these will be marked to prevent theft from the tedious users of YouTube and other non-Thomas modelling communities.

Dennis, Arry and Bert - Nearly Complete!

The three projects undertaken earlier in August, are almost finished.

The faces for 'Arry and Bert were rendered by Skarloeyfan to look like the CGI versions as seen on the Take 'n' Play 'Arry and Bert Die-casts. The chassis for Dennis was also rendered by Skarloeyfan to have the jackshaft under the cab, and has successfully worked as planned.

All that is left to do now, is finish the lettering on Bert, and paint the wheels on Dennis.

More progress on Dennis!

He's so near to being complete, the only thing missing is the jackshaft, which at present, i'm having a little trouble with, but can hopefully resolve the issue.

Dennis OO Project - Halfway There!

Dennis is getting closer to completion, the model is having the last few details finalized before it is primed and painted.

The chassis has not yet been finalized, as the Jackshaft still needs work, but this is currently how Dennis is looking.

Second short film in the works!

Since the first short film from the Railway Stories from Sodor series was posted, a second short film is now in the works, and will feature a character from the episode 'Heave Ho Thomas'.

This character sadly has no real background story to him, and sadly has not featured in the series since Season 12 aired. He is based on a PRR K4 locomotive, painted royal blue with bright red wheels and has a cowcatcher on his front running plate.

Details about the release date, will follow soon enough!

September Updates & Message from Admin!

Greetings to all from the World of Thomas Modelling.

We apologize so much for the lack of updates and inactivity spell as of late. We like to take time out from modelling and live our lives by going out and socializing with friends and family that we know and keep close to us.

Septembers Updates are a follows:

- Elsbridge Branch layout updated!
- OO 'Den' Project back online.
- Railway Stories from Sodor Short Finished!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now a message from our admin.

"It has come to my attention recently that a fair few sick 'people' on YouTube have been spatting our name in the form of videos with 'test' in their titles and some rather unpleasant descriptions about some our of members videos not being 'true tests' because our videos show models actually hauling wagons, instead of running on a crappy Hornby 'rolling road'.

A test is showing the model in action and seeing how much it can pull before wheel-slipping.. not just standing static on a lump of metal with rollers and calling it test, because that is not a test, all that shows is the models wheels moving, no test whatsoever!

However.. i cannot speak for the majority of those on other forums who continue to spat our communities name by making poor videos and calling them a 'test' and posting them on YouTube, by also adding some rather distasteful slander in their comments and trying to convince our members aswell as others that our community is not worth bothering with.

Let me assure you, that the lesser individuals of these other so called 'thomas model / fan forums', are NOT welcome to our boards, and never will be. We are a clean and respectable community, and people the likes of those, who i won't name for the obvious reasons, are not worth bothering with.

We have close friends who know that we are true to our name, even affiliated with online stores that give us the true dates of when new items are released and know what our community is all about, but, sometimes, it takes a little more than brains to work out little things like that.

So please, to all those who don't know us, stop trying to make yourselves look clever by showing us up, it really doesn't make you look good, and your karma level is far below disgraceful. Even for your standards.."

I apologize to all those on our model community regarding this matter, it's just very sad that they continue to act like immature children instead of mature adults, who i would have thought by now, would have the sense to act their ages and be a bit more true to their names.

We hope this won't effect your continued support and likes of our community, and again, we apologize for these people giving off the wrong impressions about a community they are not even part of.

'Arry and Bert OO Projects - Wasp Stripes Applied!

The wasp stripes on the front of 'Arry and Bert's models, have been applied by hand, it has taken some steady time, but they are done, and just need touching up where necessary.

The wasp stripes are the hardest part of any model, even professionals can sometimes get it wrong or make simple mistakes when painting, but, with a steady hand, time and care, they often turn out how you would want them, and i am very pleased with how mine have turned out.

The lettering is the only thing left to apply to the bodies, besides working on the faces for them, and they will then be ready.

Arry and Bert OO Projects - Slow Coming Together!

The 'Arry and Bert projects are slowly coming together, they have already been given coats of Citadel Foundations 'Liquid Green Stuff' and Humbrol Acrylic RC407 (Yellow).

I'm going for the Series 5/6 color looks, rather than the Series 8 to 16, since it stands out more, i am not sure what faces to use at current, but i am debating between the trackmaster 'Arry and Bert ones, or, bashing the CGI Diesel face to make it look more like the CGI 'Arry and Bert ones.

The lettering for 'SODOR IRONWORKS' i already have, which was left over from the Splatter and Dodge name transfers, so hopefully, my models of these devious diesels, will look like the TV pic above, once finished!

'Arry and Bert - Coming Next from the Sodor OO Works!

The Sodor OO Works next Diesel projects to be undertaken are 'Arry and Bert.

These two are long due for production, and have been wished for on the Bachmann forums by many fans, but, i have decided to redo the Mk I versions i made in earlier days, but this time, using Bachmann Devious Diesel's instead of the LIMA Class 08.

I will be using the same method as previous for Splatter and Dodge, and hopefully, 'Arry and Bert, will turn out just as good as they have done. :)

Splatter and Dodge Project - Weathered Down (Batch 6)

The models have been weathered down to look as they did in the movie, the kits i used were from Tamiya, and are water-based. The weathering on the rods and cranks has taken serious effect to give them the dirty/dusty look, which is what i was after, and the oil effect gives the bodies a good grimy effect, with some light dusting of sand in various spots on the running plate and main engine casing.

Just require their names adding now, and they are completed. :)
